AAHKS has been surveying members over the last year to assess the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the practice of hip and knee replacement surgery. The latest survey results were released this month. While 31% report they are continuing to return to normal case volumes and 7% see restrictions relaxing, 42% say that previous restrictions regarding patient risk factors and elective cases have been reimposed. When asked about specific effects, members most frequently report that patients are delaying or cancelling scheduled surgeries (75%) and that patients who do receive surgeries are tested for COVID-19 beforehand (88%). AAHKS is sending the next survey to members by email later this month. Please watch for it in your inbox and help us by providing your input.
