On Thursday, Nov. 7, 150 residents attended the hands-on Resident Lab Course, a unique learning experience designed to expose PGYIII and IV orthopedic surgeons to the field of arthroplasty with hands-on training implanting and cementing. Next, residents, medical students and fellows attended the Resident & Student Symposium. This new event featured 10 top-rated poster presentations, giving arthroplasty surgeons in training the opportunity to present at the podium and educate their fellow trainees. The AAHKS Young Arthroplasty Group (YAG) Educational Panel, “Dealing with the stresses of early practice: what no one teaches you in fellowship”, provided insight for new and soon-to-be practicing surgeons. The day ended with a YAG “Yard Party” Social & Networking event. These are just some of the expanding learning opportunities for fellows at AAHKS. Today’s Fellowship Director’s Forum will provide updates on these events and other issues impacting arthroplasty fellowship education to program directors and faculty in attendance.
