AAHKS Comments on HHS Prior Authorization RFI

Last week, AAHKS submitted comments to the HHS Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) on its Request for Information (RFI) on “Electronic Prior Authorization Standards, Implementation Specifications, and Certification.” Thank you to our members who completed our recent Prior Authorization (PA) Poll, which informed many of our comments. This includes finding that 87% of respondents find PA has a negative impact on care, 95% find that PA requirements have increased in the last 5 years and 70% reported employing full-time staff dedicated exclusively to PA. AAHKS supports the ONC’s continued efforts to reduce barriers and burdens associated with PA. For more information, read the letter.
