Last week, AAHKS hosted a hands-on workshop for over 50 minority STEM students from Dallas high schools to nurture students’ curiosity in medicine and orthopaedics through surgeon-led talks and interactive mock surgeries using real surgical tools and lifelike bones. AAHKS partnered on the program with Nth Dimensions, an organization founded by orthopaedic surgeons to address health care disparities for all communities. “The AAHKS Humanitarian Committee and the AAHKS Diversity Advisory Board were proud to host this wonderful group of students, said Muyibat A. Adelani, MD, AAHKS Diversity Advisory Board Co-Chair. I, myself, was an Nth Dimensions scholar in 2005, so it was personally meaningful to be able to interact with students who remind me of myself.”
