AAHKS and AAOS have published an article addressing billing for the presurgical period that has developed in the evolving model of care related to patient optimization. As the article states, “many of the steps now required for presurgical decision making and patient optimization are not represented by the term “history and physical” and are not included in the definitions of the global surgical package.
