and Innovation Grant Program
Program Overview
AAHKS has established the Fellowship Education Improvement and Innovation Program to award grant money to Adult Reconstruction Fellowship Programs, based on a grant received from Founding Industry Partner Zimmer Biomet.
The grant program will incentivize the fellowship programs to address targeted areas of improvement, including but not limited to:
- patient optimization
- high risk/at risk patients
- diverse patient populations
- site of care impact
- registry-based research
- advanced technologies in joint arthroplasty
The grant program is intended to be flexible and inclusive. The long-term goal is to standardize curriculum, improve training and financially support adult reconstruction fellowship training nationally.

Developed with a grant from our Founding Industry Partner
Application Requirements
Applications will be accepted through July 31, for the 2022-2023 fellowship training cycle. Applicant programs must have a current program agreement with AAHKS as well as an SF Match account.
This year, AAHKS will grant $11,000, at a minimum, to each successful applicant fellowship program to support fellows in the 2022-2023 program year. Recipient programs and fellows must both summarize their progress or outcomes in brief reports at the end of the program year (or, in the program’s case, on next year’s application if seeking ongoing funding).
Reception of funds (and a complete application) requires the program to complete the AAHKS Fellowship Match Program Director and Coordinator Survey received at the end of the fellowship year.
The grant money shall not be utilized to sponsor or otherwise support recreational and/or entertainment activities or for any direct or indirect payments for faculty or attendee expenses such as honoraria, travel, lodging or meals.
