As we prepare a response to a CMS information collection notice regarding utilization management (UM) reporting and enforcement in Medicare Advantage (MA). The goal of this comment letter is to reiterate to CMS why enforcement of existing UM regulations and reporting requirements are important, as well as to identify what more CMS can do in this space. Please provide us with any recent “horror stories” regarding the impact of UM in MA that you would like to share that we can incorporate into our comment letter. Please provide a few sentences of instances where MA plans were adding extra steps or standards for TJA that don’t exist under Medicare FFS. We are collecting name and email, but only for potential follow up, all ‘horror stories’ will be anonymous. Thank you.
